Megadeth’s Chris Broderick and David Ellefson are traveling the country as part of the Jackson Clinics tour.
This week, they are making their way out to the West Coast, with Spotlight Music in Ft. Collins, Colo., being their latest stop.
Broderick sent this blog post to JacksonGuitars.com after spending time in his native state:
~ I must say it was awesome to know that I would be able to do one of these Jackson Clinics in my home state of Colorado. Not only do I love it when I get back here (family, friends, and the clear air that always seems so familiar) to visit, but there is also a camaraderie among people from Colorado that you don’t always get elsewhere.
I arrived at DIA [Denver International Airport] and went right to the hotel around 11:30 with just enough time to get a workout in, so that’s what I did. After that it was off to Spotlight Music in Ft Collins, which is a little way from Denver (about an hour north). Upon getting there we immediately met the owner and his wife, Rob and Jen Curci, who were very helpful with the gear set up and showing us their cool store. On another note, David and I were lucky enough to see the first Colorado snow storm of the season, which is supposed to dump at least four inches of snow. Of course, this only made me jones to go snowboarding.
The show went really well. We didn’t really have it set in terms of how David and I were going to go through our examples, but the clinic flowed well and it had a spontaneous vibe. The only issue we had was that the playback was set to repeat, so when we would end the song, the backing audio would start again. Ahahahahah. At the end we did a signing and must have signed 15 Jackson guitars (which was awesome) with a total of 200 fans of all ages from 5 to 50. All seemed very appreciative and into the clinic. What more could you ask for?
David and I ended the night going out to dinner with the Rob and Jen from Spotlight, along with Jeff Carey, John Dreyer, Jeff and Eric Bowen, and Tim Mcmillen. We went to the Chimney Park restaurant in Windsor that was closed down just for us – Rob and Jen knew the owner – to have some food and drink. Now, I’m not a picky eater, but everything there was great. Now it’s on to Reno. See you guys there.
