Sleigh Bells Rock Jackson DK2T in New Vid

Miller (left) and Krauss in a still from their "Infinity Guitars" video.

Here’s New York noise-pop duo Sleigh Bells in their new video for all-needles-in-the-red single “Infinity Guitars.”

Do note that alluringly bat-wielding vocalist Alexis Krauss is joined just over a minute in by the act’s other half, Jackson-wielding guitarist and songwriter Derek Miller, who slashes and burns his way through the heavily distorted proceedings with a black DK2T Dinky™ model.

Sleigh Bells formed in 2008 when Miller, late of Miami hardcore outfit Poison the Well, serendipitously met Krauss in the Brooklyn restaurant where he worked. “Infinity Guitars’ comes from 2010 debut album Treats, which also includes first single “Tell ’Em.”

It’s heavy. See for yourself:

Def Leppard’s Collen Plays New Signature Model on CNN

Collen and Huckabee put the hurt on. Note Collen's new PC Supreme signature model.

CNN cameras caught longtime Jackson friend and signature artist Phil Collen shredding a slow blues in E on his newest signature model, the PC Supreme, at a Jackson showcase pre-show event on Wednesday, Jan. 12, in Anaheim, Calif.

In the cable news giant’s “iReport” clip, the Def Leppard guitarist is joined by an unusual pair of accompanists—Dick Boak of the C.F. Martin & Company on—what else?—acoustic guitar, and former Arkansas governor, 2008 Republican presidential candidate and current Fox News talk show host Mike Huckabee on bass (stop snickering—Huckabee is widely known as an able player and is featured in the February 2011 issue of Bass Player magazine).

Bandmates aside, take a good look at Collen’s new guitar. The PC Supreme made its public debut that day, wowing Jackson fans with its unusual body design. Collen in turn wowed listeners with his screaming chops on it, tearing through an impromptu jam session with Boak and Huckabee, who drew a good laugh while checking his tuning beforehand and quipping that his intonation was “close enough for government work.”

For more on the PC Supreme, Collen himself does the talking and the playing in the clip seen here:

Megadeth's Chris Broderick Reacts to His Finished Soloist

After exhaustively laboring over the design and features with the Jackson Custom Shop, Chris Broderick finally sees his finished signature Soloist in the flesh at the 2011 Jackson Showcase booth.

His immediate and initial reaction?

“I love it,” he professed. “It’s great. You can just feel the balance, the way it sits. It doesn’t want to drop at all on its neck. It’s awesome. When I look at the fretboard radius, I know it’s a 12-inch. I love that. I love the curve of a fretboard radius. The quilted maple lining is awesome. Even the way they’ve beveled it from the top into the neck. It almost looks seamless; as seamless as you could possible make it. It’s beautiful. Killer. Can’t wait to play it.”

Broderick’s wish was granted as he unleashed the guitar on Friday night at a Megadeth show at the Grove in Anaheim.
