Thank you both for the replies.
I blew up the serial number and cleaned it up as good as I can.its attached i think.
Looks like it says UO6669, UO6619, or J with a big space 6669 to me.
I could not get a good balance of shadow and exposure to get the ones the strings cover up.
So I recon that would be a 1998 USA Neckthru.
Now does that mean it cant be an arch top if it has the UO serial number?
The Scalloping on the top wing, the carving from the guitar strap pin to the neck i mean, is not at all like a Jackson SL2H, but much more like the Archtop models. This guitar is actually almost exactly like the JSL2HTBXX, a Japanese model, except all of those ive seen where run with the normal shark fin inlay. but 24 jumbo frets, Rosewood board, same scalloping on the wings, and at the thru neck connection, it is more scalloped than your average American Soloist which seems to have a strong body to neck definition at the back, but alot like the JSL2HTBXX, where the transition is more rolled and smooth appearing, yet still retaining some angle Has the same two knobs and three way toggle.
Does any one have any Idea how Jackson stamps their serial numbers? this one doesnt seem to be fully in line, some numbers higher and lower than others. Looks hand done or stamped a number at a time.
I suppose I could see them using the Silver and Rosewood if that was the custom order...
Id prolly not be persisting on this so hard, but I am involved with he guitar.
hadnt shiped to me cause the long weekend. Was a pretty sure it was legit and saw that picture of the chervil 750... worried me... then i realized there was a Jackson forum, so i thought id ask. Now I'm a little worried. I wouldn't think an authorized dealer would intentionally do that... if Jackson cared about their reputation, and I Imagine they do since they have worked for it, and they caught wind of somthing like that , they'd have to yank their endosrement permanently, just to protect them selves... I realize Jackson cant monitor used guitar sales, but as an dealer arent you expected to operate at a certain quality, knowledge, and integrity level? I know Jackson doesnt get money from a used guitar sale, but when some one is picking with the Jackson U.S.A logo on the head stock thats still attached to their reputation, you dont want people hearing some buzzy imitation thinking thats a Jackson U.S.A. they couldn't have a dealer out they slinging loose guitars... maybe thats in a perfect world.
The only complaints i could find of the shop sounded like attitude... heck, im not the sweetest, so i Dont much care... but if they were to sell a guitar as something it was not, well there are laws against that right? I dont see anything that says this shop has done that, and only inference that they might, or have a reputation here.. if thats the case why is their endorsement not gone?
im not trying to make any one wrong or right, I just want to know what I am really getting, so i appreciate y'alls input... deciding what to do now
Heres a Link if the photo is not clear, the forum stretched it.http://i1296.photobucket.com/albums/ag1 ... 58ba04.jpg
