This is my first post I figured if anyone can help it's you guys. Alright here goes..... So I bought a Jackson dk2 Transparent blue in 2006 all was grand for 6 months or so, I brought the guitar to band practice one day and left it for a couple days (I was 16 at the time 23 now never again). Lo and behold my guitarists little brother had stolen it and taken off as he found a new hobby (drugs). Filed a police report nothing ever came of it. I was recently back in the town it was stolen in at a pawn exchange. I see it MY guitar shining beautifully on the wall It had the same scratch in the neck and many other identifiers. So I call guitar center and get the original bill of sale check the serial numbers no go.... But something seems off....The guitar had the serial plate switched!!! The guitar shipped with an all black serial plate. My at the time guitarist his little brother had one of those cheap jackson $200 flying v's with a silver lined serial plate the one that had somehow made it onto my guitar and into the pawn store for the past 6 years. My question is are there any other ways to identify this guitar to my original bill of sales as far as the serial number being printed somewhere in the neck joint or under a pickup in the trem cavity anywhere?!? The guitar is a jackson dk2 transparent blue circa 2006. Now I do have many pics of the guitar and a picture of me playing the guitar. My question would it be enough for police to release my guitar if I had all of the pics, Original bill of sale describing the guitar, proving the serial plate had been switched with a cheap v pretty obvious the guitar isn't a v.... I also have the culprits name I can tell them exactly who pawned the guitar. What do you all think I should do my worst fear is they say no because serial doesn't match although there is so much proof it was switched and it is my property. Im contacting jackson monday to see if there are any markings that might link to my serial on the bill of sale.

Unfortunately, the neck plate is the only place you will find the serial number, and Jackson really can't help much with import serial numbers.. But you do have a slight chance.. All the hardware should match (and you can find other DK2 pics for reference), so you can prove that the neck plate has been switched. If you have pictures of the guitar and pics of you with it, take them and the hardware reference pics to the police department and talk to them face to face. If you reported the guitar stolen, make sure you bring a copy of the police report.. Also make sure they look at the screws on the neck plate, it will be obvious if they have been taken out of another guitar because of the screwdriver damage to the screws.. The pawn shop is also required to keep records of who they purchase items from, but I am not sure how long they have to keep them, so if possible, get your buddy to come with in case his brother was dumb enough to sell it to them himself.. Good luck, this won't be easy....
