man that's cheap when it comes to quality guitars. I though you said you wanted a legit king V? the only thing cheaper would be an X Series V. pretty nice with a neck thru and everything but the only thing i don't like about it is the basswood body. kind of terrible but for a neck thru not the worst choice in body wood.

I've never played one but i'd say they are probably pretty good. for one its a Jackson so it's not gonna be a completely bad guitar... I'd say you can't really compare it to a USA V but for the price it's a solid choice. Now the only real downside like i said is the basswood body.
Basswood doesn't have as wide of a frequency range as Alder does so you might be better off getting that KV3 or something else with Alder. Basswood tends to cut out some high end sound and it won't resonate deep lows all that well. if you can play one i'd say do it because really your ear is the judge but personally.. the basswood pretty much ensures that i'll never buy that guitar but i'm kind of a tone freak.

This would be the X series guitar to get so see if you can find one in a Guitar Center or a local music shop. It's pretty nice. It's got a bound fretboard and Neck Thru construction.
Plus some alright EMGs already in there.
