what is the difference between scalopped and unscalopped frets on an electric guitar

Hi there,
Actually it's not the fret that is scallopped, what is scallopped is the wood in between the frets, the fretboard it self. Instead of the fretboard being flat it is cut deeper in between the frets so there is more distance between the top of the fret wire and the wood fretboard. This type of neck is much less forgiving and should only be used by very seasoned players because the amount of pressure you need to apply when chording or playing lead must be very consistant or you will sound out of tune. I would suggest doing a search for Scalloped Necks so you can see what they look like, these necks are very diffucult to get used to and accuracy is critical.
