How do I determine what model I have ? the serial number is 6243 and the neck plate reads made in San Dimas. The guitar has been painted and the original paint is fire crackle also has a double coil pick up at the bridge and a single coil at the neck with a toggle switch. tremolo has a Jackson logo but also has licensed floyd rose on it as well.

Most locking trems are Floyd licensed due to patenting.. As for what model you have, pics would be very helpful.. Was yours autographed on the headstock?

Ive done some more research and the neck is unfinished maple neck with a Bill Lawrence double coil and I think it was made in 1980 to 1982 I see that the original paint (fire crackle) was fairly common but now that it has been repainted does that take away from its value? Not going to sell it cause its one of my favorites second to my Charvel I bought in Boston MA in 1987 still trying to find the model any help would be awesome

Sounds more like the 1988 series ran before Grover sold the company.. There was a series of h/s crackles (100 seems to be the general consensus) signed and hand numbered by Grover on the back of the head stock.. Yes, a refin does affect value, and crackle seems to be a fairly coveted finish as environmental laws no longer allow it (my understanding anyway).
