hi.

i'm looking to buy a used SLT1 (fixed bridge) USA soloist.

a person claims his guitar is such a model but it does NOT have the "Made in USA" logo on the headstock.

he has the documentation that comes with the guitar and also contacted Jackson to verify that the serial number is in fact a USA model. They said it is and for whatever reason the USA logo is not there but it is a USA SL1T.

does this sound legitimate or would you be concerned this guitar is not a USA model?
have you heard of USA Soloists in the past not having the USA logo?
would resale value be diminished due to this?

thanks a ton.

Jason

It is not the first time I have heard of the "Made In USA" missing, but I would strongly caution buyer beware..

thanks for the reply.

have you ever heard of people ever trying to falsify USA status for a Soloist?

i would think if the neck serial stamp matches the papers and Jackson says such a serial number is in fact a USA model, then everything is legit.

am i wrong in thinking this way? is there any way someone could fake it and tamper with the neck-stamped serial number? obviously, it would easy enough to get the papers from a legit guitar, but the stamp seems hard to doctor. or am i wrong?

Nothing is impossible anymore.. Could just be that the neck was repaired and refinished, the decal was missed in the manufacturing process, or a myriad of other factors.. Hell, look at what the Chinese pull off with those fake Nashville manufactured axes..

I'm not saying that this guy is doing it, but if I had one guitar with Made in USA on the headstock and a matching neck plate. and I had a cheaper model made over seas It wouldn't be that hard to switch the neck plate and try to sell them both as USA models. I wouldn't do such a thing but there are some that wouldn't hesitate to scam someone. If he wants a lot for it I would ask to see inside the neck pocket and neck heel. Make sure they are matching models etc.

sorry, i'm confused (and not very savvy with terminology). the Soloist is a neck through.

are you talking about switching the neck and body of two different guitars?

If it's a neck through you should be fairly safe. the serial for them should be on the back of the headstock?
I wasn't sure about the neck. most bolt ons have the serial stamped on the neck plate. they are too easy to swap out.

If it is neck through, the serial is stamped at the end of the fretboard..

thanks for the reply. yes, the serial number is stamped on the last fret and i got pics and confirmed the pics and serial with Jackson: all good, USA they confirm.

so, i went for it. an associate happened to be in the same city as this guy on a work trip and i thought that was my chance: i got my friend to pick it up.

the guitar is gorgeous and plays excellently. my worries about it being a fake or scam are gone.

i do think this hurts resale value but i paid a chunk less than what i would've for one stamped with USA, so it evens out, plus i plan on keeping it a long time.

it's a 2010, mint and feels like something i'd pull off a wall at a store. Trans Black is truly beautiful and they matched the wood on the body better than others i've seen pics of online.

thanks for the insight and help and rock on with the best guitar (IMHO, as a metalist) in the world: Jacksons
