Today "fair market value" is a very hollow phrase. In the current economy, it is only worth what someone else is willing to pay for it.. Lately some that should have gone for a decent amount have barely hit 2/3 of what I thought they would go for. The fact that the serial number has been altered and the paint/trem mods have been done wouldn't help much for the total value.. Without the whole serial number, value could be well below what you might expect (there should be at least 4 digits after the J)..

I understand, but if it was the fourth guitar of his series, what number would be? J0004 or only J 4 as in this case. I read somewhere that Jackson did not use zeros if not composed a number, for example, 104 but not 014. Although the site shall bear the serial numbers of all zeros before completion of the 4-digit number.

Not true at all.. Jackson logs start at serial # J 0037. I have a 1984 Rhoads and the serial number does indeed start with a zero..

Forgive me but I do not understand. In this site, the link of serial numbers, for the neck thru body, numbering start with 0001 J of 1983, built in San Dimas. why instead you said start from a number next? In addition, I ask you to take a look at this other picture: this is what is written behind the guitar accomodation includes the mechanics of the bridge. The number at the top is 3218. Do you have an idea what could be? can be of any certification of the manufacturer?

3128 is a work order number, and has little to do with serializing.. The source I was referring to were scanned copies of the Jackson log books, and the first entry is J 0037 for Michael Anthony's Jack Daniels bass.. I have no known reference for anything earlier..

All I can tell you for certain is that it was built after the move from San Dimas to Ontario, California..

so after 1986. deduce from this the number of order behind the guitar?
25.01.1988.
This is written in the link "product dating information " :
2. Neck-through-body guitars that weren’t Randy Rhoads models were given “J****” serial numbers, including Soloist™, King V™, Kelly™, Concert Bass and other models. After spring 1990, only custom neck-through-body models were given “J” serial numbers; production Soloist, Kelly and King V models, etc., were also considered “USA” models and given “U0****” serial numbers. There are exceptions to this rule—production neck-through-body models from the 1990s can sometimes be found with “J” or “RR” serial numbers instead of “U” serial numbers; these typically identify an instrument as a Jackson Custom Shop prototype of some kind. Also, a few Rhoads guitars were mistakenly released with “J” rather than “RR” serial numbers.
unless it is a prototype, as it is written, considering the keyboard does not have
shark fins, but classic points.

25-01-1988 is January 25, 1988.. Any way you slice it, the serial number should have at least 3 more digits between the "J" and the "4"...

Nothing sure in this life, except Jackson are great guitars and wives always complain!
Thank you for all.
