Hey Guys, I decided i wanted to start playing guitar, so when i bought one, my friend turned me on to Jackson, and i fell in love with the black Kelly. So anyway, It has been playing fine for a while, however, I noticed that the Low E string, when pressed on any fret except 12 and below,(meaning 12, 13 14 etc) has a HORRIBLE buzz. Now I'm not playing with an Amp atm, so i know it is the guitar. I tried to adjust the screws at the bottom of the bridge and that seemed to help a little, but not much. Any help would be appreciated, but please remember, i'm new, so i'm not really up to terms yet with what everything is exactly (so laymans terms please  )

Also, can anyone suggest a good brand of strings, i want to put on some 10-52 as the style of music i plan on playing is often in Drop C or D

If you have tried adjusting the action (string height) and you still have that bad of a buzz, it will only get worse with increasing string diameters. It would be in your best interest to have a qualified technician do a proper set up with the string gauge change because the intonation may have to be reset and it already sounds from your description like the truss rod needs adjusting.. That is not something I would suggest you do on your own the first time.

^^^ Agreed. To me it sounds like the truss rod needs to be loosened a bit. It's not a big job and it's something you should learn how to do but if you've never really messed around with the technical aspects of your guitar it's best to let a tech handle it. Maybe ask if you can watch while he works and get him to give you a run-down on what's involved. If that's not possible we can probably talk you through doing it yourself.

Ok, thanks guys, I have a 2 year warranty with Guitar Center, so i can probably take it in and have them do it. (got it with a Gig bag and a tuner for 219.00 out the door  )

That's a steal bro, nice work. I think I paid $600 for my JS32T Rhoads, but that's just Australia for you. Let us know how you get on with it.
