I have what I've been told is a Jackson Dinky Standard, made in India. I've not seen this guitar in any catalog principally due to the neck inlays(got it from GC last year).

First issue I had was a buzzing high E and B open strings. Thought it was the nut, and bought thicker strings (11 - 48). That resolved that issue

Having another issue, lack of sustain on B and high E string.

I've tuned it and got intonation correct (really a bear for low E). I've raised the pickups and lowered the strings. Any other suggestions other than to bring it to a luthier?

That is the Jackson Dinky Standard Shuriken model, a Guitar Center Anniversary exclusive model.. Indian Cedro body, maple top, bound rosewood fret board.. Is the problem with open strings or while fretting?? If it happens when the strings are open, the truss rod may need adjusting, if it happens when you fret a note, the action is too low or you have a high fret.. If it was the change to the heavier strings that really made that much of a difference, the increase in string tension would pull some of the bow out of the neck, so I am assuming the neck needs a bit of an adjustment.. If you are not familiar with this, then, yes, by all means have a luthier do a set up...

Thanks for the info.

My problems with the buzzing were only on open strings. When fretted, they sounded fine. My remaining issue is with high e and b string sustain (they don't hold note as long as the other strings do), but that may be due my being a noobee at guitar.

By the way, I found that only 240 of these were made for GC. It's essentially a JS model.

Yes, it's a variant of the JS model, but it has a maple cap so that is a major improvement.. Keep practicing, and get a good look at that neck and see if it is bowed.. It doesn't take much to make life less than enjoyable..

I watched several u-tube videos about checking and adjusting the neck. Mine was bowed, so I had to adjust the bar - it was, in fact, loose. Got the bow out, had to make a bunch of adjustments; string height (got fret buzz on 11th fret on low E and A), pickup height, tune and intonation.

It still seems to me that high E and D don't have the sustain that the other strings do.

It will take a little time for the neck to adjust to the new truss rod tension, the wood will take a little time to move..
