These guitars were mass produced.. It was probably sent to the factory by EMG with the slanted ring, and out of the box and into the guitar it goes.. If it makes you feel any better, my DK2M has the angled pickup bezel as well, even thought they are intended for arch tops..

Cheers for the reply. I thought it was a bit odd. Awesome guitar though. Best neck on any guitar I own! :P
