My son brought this home... Black finish, one piece bolt on neck (4 screws). SN: 9736688. I think this is a 1997 MIJ axe. Tuners are black & marked "Jackson".
Controls: Tone, Volume & push/pull Volume pot with active electronics. White neck and headstock binding. Looks like 2 DiMarzio humbuckers with 3-way switch, Floyd Rose® bridge, neck has small piranha inlays, doubled at the 12th fret. Plays well, sounds good, no idea what model, not sure of the year, any help greatly appreciated.

It's a DKMG built some time after 1996 (serial numbers prior to 1996, the first two digits indicated the year, then they started to issue them consecutively until 2010). The active electronics on this one is a gain boost. Originally it was loaded with EMG HZ's. If you are really interested in finding out the actual year of manufacture, the next time you change strings pull the neck off and check for a date stamp on the end of the heel of the neck.

@MatreCarrefour - thanks so much for the info. I appreciate it

I usually play Strats and Les Pauls so it's a fresh sounding guitar to me. When the push/pull pot is pulled up and the volume is all the way up, it's a LOT louder.
I like it, but I have too many guitars at this point, so I might sell it... Again, thanks!!

You have the strat shape with the ever so appreciated dual humbuckers.. Consider keeping it and finding another step child to put up for adoption..
