Hello all im new to the forums. Just curious if there is anyone who knows what gauge strings i should use on my DK2M to give it proper tension for the floyd rose. I recently had to adjust the anchors in the neck because the bridge was at an extreme angle. It is now level with the body and i was just curious if i need to buy any particular gauge. I usually play Elixir Custom Lights .009-.046. Thanks in advance. Rock on!

That's a fine guitar you have there. Any gauge string will work. Tremolos aren't gauge dependent, it's just a matter of setting things up properly. You should pick the gauge based on your playing style and preference really. Some Jacksons come from factory with 9s others with 10s. If there's an issue you might have to upgrade the springs/sustain block.

Ok i didnt think it really mattered but i saw a video of a guy teaching how to "properly" string a floyd rose and he was saying that it's important to use what strings it came with on it. I figured that was bologna i will just buy the strings i always have and make any adjustments if need be. might have to buy cheap ones to experiment with because breaking a elixir while stringing would be 10 bucks down the drain and make me cry. Thanks for the info!

as said before you can use any gauge you want but remember its all about tension and 9-46 is an odd size they have given me trouble in the past so now i use 10-46 and no problems at ass good luck

Yes it's quite odd, 10-46 is also i use now. As long as i know, no matter what gauges you're in you can still set the tension of the tremolo manually. So, just choose the gauge based on you way of playing.
