I have a Soloist that I bought new about 1984. It’s been in my closet for the last past 20+ years and over the last few weeks brought it out and started playing it again. I forgot how great of an instrument it is! Other than the god awful, hideous Neon Pink finish (classic 80’s… what were we thinking!!), this guitar clearly SMOKES my Custom Shop Gibson Les Paul’s in every way! This guitar was designed and built to be played as effortlessly and efficiently as possible. Taking the great Stratocaster design and giving it a full 4 octave neck. Neck through body construction with complete access to all 24 frets, and a well-designed neck contour and fret board. How much better can it get?! Anyways, getting back to the point of my post… After sitting for the past 20 years the neck could use a little tweaking of the truss rod. Unfortunately, I no longer have the adjuster that came with the guitar. It has the Gibson style “hex” head, but none of my wrenches fit. I think it is a ½” because my socket set ½” was able to grab it but I can’t really adjust it without routing out the channel to fit the socket securely in there and I’m afraid to strip the head. Also I really don’t want to rout out the truss rod socket channel unless I have to (You know… like putting a Floyd Rose on a Pre-CBS Strat type of thing). So my question to everyone is what size is it and more importantly… where can I get one? And don’t say Stewart McDonald because they don’t have the size. Thanks everybody!
