Hi, I bought a Jackson DKMGT update 2006 4 years ago and it's in real need of a cleaning. The fretboard is rosewood, so can I use zippo fuel to clean it? What about using steel wool? How to clean the back of the fretboard? Using lemon oil? Can I use whatever kind of polish on the guitar body, like Dunlop Polish? Is there something else to do to clean this guitar?
Thanks!

DONT use zippo fuel. It contains naptha which is really nasty and would probably soak through the rosewood and eat the glue that keeps it on the neck. Use lemon oil on the fretboard itself but not too much, you dont want to saturate it. Rub it in and let it soak in for a few minutes then wipe off excess. As for as the body and back of the neck i really dont know. I bought a Jackson Professional Fusion ex off of ebay and it had been in the case in the closet for like 14 years. I wiped it down real good with one of those ernie ball cleaning cloths. You might want to try that dunlop guitar care system that has those disposable wipes. As far as the frets go i have no idea. I tried several different things including steel wool for the frets and nothing seemed to work. Check and see how the local guitar shop does it and how much they would charge you. Good luck. Ok go to floyroseupgrades.com. Product called gorgomyte. Fret and fretboard cleaner and conditioner. watch the video demo.

I recommend buying the Dunlop cleaning kit. I use it on all my Jackson guitars but make sure you don't use the deep conditioner on maple fretboards.
