Picked this up. 1985 piezo. Starting to turn nicer creme color.

Anyone have one of these san dimas models? Kip winger was the only other person to have one I've seen

And it is a neckthru.

Unfortunately don't have more info regarding that bass but ... thanks for making our first bass-related posting.

The piezos were an option on any of the Concert basses back in the day, I believe. I had a 1985 Concert Student (rosewood w/dots) w/EMGs a number of years ago. Total beast, though kind of neck-heavy. A few years ago, nobody wanted the old '80s Concerts, and you could get them dirt-cheap on eBay. I think I paid about $400 for mine. However, they seem to be getting more popular again. They're not especially versatile instruments, which is probably why the average bassist looking for a high-end bass doesn't want them. They are built much the same as a Soloist guitar and have that same crisp sound and pronounced midrange. Great for overdriven metal bass sounds, but not what you'd use for R&B or classic rock.

The body looks huge without the pickup. It's pretty sweet looking though
