I purachased (new) a soloist back in 1995. I didn't pay much attention to the specifics on it. I just knew I loved the sound and feel. I still have it and it's still in perfect condition. But I am afraid I don't know much about what I have. I was hoping for some insight from a Jackson pro!

Like I mentioned I bought it in 95 for around $1,500 (can not remember, I haggled). It has the original f-rose tremolo, 24 fret and sharkfin. It's most distinguishing feature is the stock Bill Laurance bridge. I've tried to identify the guitar online but have not had much luck. Best I can tell it's a SL1. I can snap some pics if it would help identify. I would also like to read up on the history/specifics of this guitar, if any sources are known.

TIA,
KupaKia

The stock Bill Lawrence pickup dates the guitar from 1993-95. I'm a little surprised it has an Original Floyd Rose, since Jackson was using the Schaller Floyd as standard equipment at the time. The OFR didn't come in until 1996, when the Soloist was changed to its current specifications, with the Duncan pickups etc. Jackson's internal designation for the Schaller bridge was the "JT-590".

As for model number, they didn't use those before 1996. I believe they were calling your guitar the "Soloist Custom" at the time.

Here's the relevant page from the 1994-95 catalog:

That sounds about right. I do remember hearing it billed as the custom soloist. As far as the FR, I just remember I was told that by the sales person it had an OFR. He could have been mistaken or I could have misunderstood. But yea, I think you nailed it. 95 Jackson Custom Soloist. Thanks so much :)
