So, according to the specs listed here, the bodies of JS Series axes are made of Indian cedro. Does anyone have any info about this type of wood? 'Cause I've never heard of it.
I'm guessing that it's not as good as maple or alder.

I heard that it's an Indian and cheaper version of Mahogany but I could be completely wrong. Others may know more about it than I do but I can't imagine it being a completely terrible wood. Not the best by any means but not terrible. I've heard some JS series guitars that sound really awesome if you get some new pick-ups in them. In all reality, it comes down to the pick-ups your guitar has and the amp you use but wood can increase the the details of guitar tone that tone junkies like alot of us are try to enhance as much as possible.

That's kinda what I thought. Not the best kind of wood around, but still not so bad. I'm getting a JS32T King V soon and I already got a spankin' new Seymour Duncan Invader SH-8 for the bridge position. This axe is going to scream with it. I'm still thinking about the neck pickup, I can't make up my mind. I was just wondering if and how indian cedro would affect the sound. I don't think I'll notice it anyway.
Thanks.

As for neck p-up, the stock Jackson humbucker is pretty good for clean tones, but the SH-2n is pretty sweet!
