WOW! That's an incredible combination of neck woods! How do like the Koa/Zircote, how does it sound? ....and very cool that the inlays flip position to position. PS> Is that Drum CIty in Denver in the background?
Nope its Matt's Music. I dunno if Matt does custom shop jackson's anymore though. I did talk to Jason at DCGL but Matt had a really good rep.
Koa is very warm sounding. I'd voice it as similar to mahogany. Ziricote is closer to Pau Ferro. It's denser and harder though, sorta a cross between Pau Ferro and Ebony I guess. The coloration is incredible as you can see. From my understanding Jackson didn't make very many guitars with that wood. I was sorta going back and forth between that and Kingwood (similar to Brazilian Rosewood) but I thought the darker Ziricote would look better with the overall look of the guitar. They did mess up on one thing though. The back of the guitar was supposed to be a gloss natural, not trans green. I think the natural back would have looked better but at least the green trans does set off the natural binding more.
Pictures don't show it to well but its actually a dark greenburst. Didn't quite match the color sample I sent them but it looks cool nonetheless.
