I'm trying to swap out my stock Jackson pickups with EMG X pickups. But I opened this thing up and man, there is a lot of circuitry here.

Anybody know if this is even possible? I think I bit off more than I can chew on this one. :(

I guess they haven't swapped their bass pups to solderless yet like they did with the guitars. I want a new set for my guitar just because of that lol. Stupid, I know. If Guitar Center would have had them in stock when I bought my DK2M I'd own a set, but I had to go with the old ones. It should be possible. I haven't bought EMG Bass pups in a really long time. Do they come with all the hardware like the guitar pups do? I'll try to help out.

There is a little circuit board that everything connects to and some special potentiometers that come with each EMG-X pickup. There is a 3 band eq that is stock in the bass. So I'm going to have to take apart the entire circuit so that I can draw it out to figure out how I'm going to have to do this.

Get to know a luthier, like I did. I have a signature model now with the highest end EMG's in it. Suweeeeeet! Here is my win:

Jackson JS3V online deal: $400
EMG pickups: $600 (for 2)
Luthier install of pickups: $200

Total: $1200
List price for David Ellefson signature bass with EMG pickups: $3600
Savings: $2400. Get to know your luthiers guys. Bottom line.

;)

I didn't get involved with this thread until I saw those prices...600 bucks for a set of EMG-X's? is that dollars? what country do you live in?
even if you buy them from the EMG site ( which nobody ever would, they are 159.95 each ) The EMG CWX or DCX or TWX from the online stores are 109.95 or 119.95 each with the full hardware kit for the 5stringers.

200 bucks to install them? What country do you live in? people around here do a complete swap no matter what is inside to begin with for 75-100 bucks.
A JS3V for 400 bucks? well at least that's normal brand new since every online store I see is 379.95 free-ship.

now you have a JS3V that cost you 1200 bucks?...uh, ok. I guess if your gonna keep it for quite a while it IS your money, but don't expect to get anymore than 250 on ebay regardless if you dropped a fortune in it or not.

I'm not hating.... it was your money not mine.
The prices you quoted are insane.
You have a 1200dollar JS3V, not a neckthru Ellefson sig for 2400 less.
I'm not hating, it's your money.
