I have every lefty jackson they ever made which is easy because they only made 2 models the old Charvel model2 which I have 2 of and a Futura. I'm always looking for more units to add to the collection if you know anyone with something sitting in the closet collecting dust.

I just registered so hello to all Jackson folks out there! I'm a lefty looking for my first Jackson bass, but can't seem to find any on the basses section of the jackson site. Or searching on the web. Maybe I should just play a right handed one with the strings reversed and nut changed to suit? Any tips or advice welcome.

there is no such thing as a lefty jackson any more they stopped in the 90's.
only one's you'll find are used from someone who has one to sell.

and flippping a righty? it would consist of a few things.

play inverted strings like I do so no string flip is required.
go thru the hassle of changing the nut and strings around.
looking like a total tool on stage with a flipped righty ( been there - done that )
here's a pic of my model-1 from back in the day when I flipped rightys and played them inverted strings:

it aint pretty, but it always worked for me :)

Thanks for that! I've done all of the things you went over in my time.

Currently I've a righty Tokai SG bass - sorry to mention a non Jackson guitar on this forum - that I've flipped strings on, reset the intonation and action, but now have to change the nut to get the action as low as I like it.

Body shape being symmetrical means it looks fairly ok but I have to play nearer the neck pickup to avoid fouling the vol tone controls. Worth it though to have the sound of this type of bass.

Re looking strange with a flipped guitar - used to be true but you now get "Reverse" body styles and headstocks being seen more. Practically the only restriction is that access to the last 4 frets on the fretboard is not as possible compared to if the body was a lefty, plus any body chamfer and sidedots on the neck, will be on the side for rightys.

I will have a think before going for flipping a righty Jackson bass

there are plenty of the members of the leftybass forum that have a righty or 2 they flip just for the same reasons you stated. They find a unit that has that "sound" and want to use it.

the only funny thing about doing it for years for me is that nobody remembers my name, but they DO remember " the lefty that used to flip a righty"

I loved to flip my Jackson Tbird, it didn't look as stupid, the controls never got in the way, the upper fret access was easier.

Your right if it was aTBird shape, like sg shapes the end of the neck sits out from the body, so access is not a problem. :D

ya jackson wasnt really a lefty friendly company, as such is life for a lefty player.
they do pop up on ebay or musicgoRound/GC used inventories, but certainly not too often.
