Hi guys! Great looking site.

I'm considering a Jackson, and I figured this would be the best place to come.
I was thinking about an Epiphone Explorer, but more and more I'm thinking that's not what I should get.

I'm a bass player, and I don't know too much about guitars so it's hard for me to try them out properly. I currently have an Epiphone SG G-400 and a Line 6 Spider IV 75w.

The SG seemed like a good idea, but it's really not what I'm looking for. It just doesn't feel right. The tone is...a little...old. You know?

The other day at Guitar Center when I was looking at an explorer, I saw a guy play a Jackson. (I actually have no idea what model it is. I've tried looking it up online, but I'm not quite sure. It's new, 399.99$. No floyd rose. Dinky body style. It's very similar to a JS32R, but I'm not sure. It was a very interesting body finish. Wood..but not tobacco sunburst.)

Anyways! I was blown over by this Jackson. It could do metal, but it could also be very soulful and bluesy. That's really what I want out of a guitar. Not a one trick pony. Not a metalcore master or anything. Something more versatile.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wH4J3Yj7340 This is an example of what I mean. While I want to be able to eventually move on to metal solo's and cool scaling and shredding, being able to make it sound like this would also be awesome.

Pretty much, I've got around $400 to spend and I want to know what is the best Jackson for a guy who wants to play from Metal, to rock, to blues-y rock?

Should I save a little more and wait to get a DKXT? I have to wait anyways for some pell grant money to come in.
Or should I get a JS32R?

I'd rather not get a V. Though, I don't think those really fit my description anyways.

I'd suggest you buy a used one. I'm not that familiar with the names of the imports, but I think the DKMG had a floyd, sharkfins and 2 humbuckers and those are pretty good..

Hey Neilli good to see you here as well, BTW I thought DKMG has the piranha inlays? Unless you meant the DXMG which has the sharkies and the passive EMG-HZs instead of the active 81 and 85.

BTW Grai, both guitars mentioned above have bolt-on necks and not neck-throughs, so if you wanna wait a bit and save about $200 more, you can probably get one of the new X-seires Soloists. However, I'd suggest first to check out some reviews once they come out, and try one yourself when they hit the retail shops.

The white guitar that was in that video is a DK2M which was one of the best Jackson sellers (excellent guitar for the money), so if you can get that used and in a good shape, I think it will be a great start for you too.

Goodluck

Save an additional $100, get a killer new X series neck-through Rhoads or soloist when they come out next month.
