I have a Jackson Kelly star with a serial number 9662649 on the neck plate. it has Duncan Designed pickups double humbucker and reversed headstock. I'm trying to find out what model it is, ks2 or ksxt. I don't know much about these so any info would help. I would like to know where and when it was made if possible. it is in bad shape and needs to be refinished completely mainly Electronics and hardware. like I said any info would be appreciated

Easiest way to tell the KS2 from the KSXT is the jack location.. The KS2 is in the upper wing, just like an RR1, 2, or 3. The KSXT will have an output jack on the lower bout near the controls.. If it is a KS2, it was made in Japan, the KSXT was made in India. Also, I have never seen a KS2 in a solid color, only trans finishes, and the few KSXT's I have seen are only black... The KS2 was produced in 2000, and the KSXT was produced in 2001. Hope that helps..

Thanks for the reply. The jack output is in the upper wing, but the guitar is solid black. I took everything apart and it looks as though black was the original color. I don't know what it is, ks2 or ksxt.

It's a KS2.. Seven digit serial is Japanese..

You're talking about a fairly rare model, only produced for one year.. I have one as well, and it will part from my hands when my heart stops beating.. I personally would, yes.. And, if it's not too much of a problem, post up a pic of it before you start and another when it's up and running..

Is the ks2 a pro model?

The KS2 was available in black, and yes, it is from the pro series..
