The instrument I'm most likely to buy here (unless I suddenly get the urge to buy that discounted American Special Strat HSS, still more expensive) is a Jackson DK2M. I have also thought of getting a five-way switching wired into the DK2M, so that I can get singlecoil sounds in the second and fourth positions. This, since I can't afford a new Strat that can go HSH. I've thought of a switching exactly like what we have on a Blacktop Strat (and also Big Apple Strats)-
  1. Bridge HB Full
  2. Twin inner SCs
  3. Both HBs full
  4. Outer Neck SC
  5. Neck HB full
This, for some Strat tones. Would you advise it?

If you are looking for single coil strat tones, then by all means make your guitar yours.. It's not like you are mounting a Roland synth pickup or poking a myriad of holes in it for coil tap toggles, so there will be no cosmetic affect of this mod.. Glad to know you finally decided on one, you will love the DK2M..

We now have this new line of Jackson Pro Series guitars, including the DK2M with the switching system that I want, and an authentic Floyd Rose Trem. Would you suggest waiting for it or buying the Japanese Dinky still selling here? The only downside to the new series is the SH-1n 59, and I'd prefer the Jazz.

There has always seemed to be a fairly sizable gap between announcement and actual delivery of new product to dealers.. I agree, the new Pro Series looks incredible, but it may be months before they hit the dealer racks.. I would assume these are being made in India, but there is always that slight possibility they are being manufactured at the same plant as the Charvel Desolation series in China (Desolation is a series of neck through and bolt ons as well).. Personally, I would grab the Japanese Jackson, they are already well known for their build quality, and then snatch one of the new Pro Series further down the road..
