I know this has been discussed over and over again on other forums, but please bring him back to Jackson where he belongs. I have a feeling you guys are working on it because you've got the rest of the band back. But if you're not, please try again. I just hate seeing him playing guitars from other brands that are copies of his King V. It's just not right :D

It was when Fender bought Jackson. They were regrouping and couldn't offer him the same contract that he previously had. I think it went from like 12-13 guitars a year and a sig model to just one and a sig. I could be wrong, but if I remember correctly that was it. And let's face it. Dave Mustaine deserves more than one guitar a year. Can't blame Jackson though. They were going through alot at the time and I don't think Fender realized how important Dave was to the roster.

I have to say the Y2KV was a HOME RUN. the best Jackson ive ever owned. and thats not a small number.

Hate that you cant get those anymore but when dave was pushed out of the deal to buy Jackson by FMIC he took it a little personal. as anyone would i imagine. but i am lucky enough to own a few Y2Ks but still. would love to have that body option back in the custom shop. Cracked mirror Y2K.. HMMMMMMMMMMMMMM

Could you enlighten me some more about contracts..Its not like they make them for free, he pays them to make the guitars, right?

He auctioned off his entire Jackson collection for some charity. It was frickin sick. He probably had around 60 or so v's.

I think he bought his first King V. One he ordered from the custom shop. He liked it and signed a deal with them. I don't know what his contract was, but I seriously doubt he ever had to pay for one after that. That's a guitar company's way of advertising. How many times do you think Dave has been seen on tv or in magazines, etc, with a Jackson in hand? Too many times to count. That's for sure.

DAVE MUSTAINE TRIED TO BUY JACKSON

He tried ponying up his own cash while trying to gather investors to help him raise enough.

Then pretty much out of frickin nowhere Fender came along and placed a higher bid and bought out the company right under his nose.

That pissed him off enough to sell off all of his Jacksons and pretty much vow to never touch Jackson guitars again. Ever since then he's been playing guitars as close to a King V as he can get without Jackson coming after him (or ESP or Dean). Deep down inside Jackson is probably still his favorite guitar company in terms of the guitars themselves, but he's probably still too mad to ever deal with them again
