Jackson's all-new Adrian Smith signature SDX puts the melodic signature sound of Iron Maiden's Adrian Smith in your hands without shredding your wallet.

OK --

1) Where is it being built?

2) What are the PUPs, exactly (ie what DiMarzio/Fender PUPs are they modeling?)

3) Is the maple fretboard option a single piece of maple or laminate?

1. It's part of the X Series, so I would imagine it's being made in India, like the other X Series model.
2. It's supposed to be an affordable version of the USA made Adrian Smith sig. series, so I would guess the bridge position is modeled after the Dimarzio Super Distortion.
3. If I had to guess, I'd say it's a two peice maple neck.

I just pre-ordered one. The Authorized dealer said it would ship by 9/1/2012. I'll post some close-up pics and the specs once it arrives.

Been looking at it. I want to play one before pulling the trigger on it.

Just recieved mine, very nice,
Only have one question for those who may be in the know.
It seems ro me that the 2 single coil pick-ups have an odd "ghost" harmonic that is very unpleasant. The guitar was slightly damaged and the tone pot had to be replaced. My local authorized dealer did the repair, could they have screwed something up? The HB seems to sound fine, but the singles are driving me nuts!
Any help out there?

Could be the typical hum that comes along with single-coil pickups. If I'm right, that could be reason why only the humbucker sounds alright. If not, well, I don't know

I received my SDX about 3 weeks ago but was disappointed to find that the fret finish meant that the high E string always slid off the side of the fingerboard making the guitar unplayable. I spoke to the shop (Andertons Musin in the UK) who arranged to get me another one. They have this now but tell me they find that it has the same problem.

Is this a well known issue? How do I get my hands on one that doesn't have this problem?

The SDX maple fretboard model was supposed to ship Sept. 1, 2012. Then all of the authorized dealers changed their dates to Oct. 1 2012. Then the dates changed again to Nov. 5th. Then again to Nov. 15th. Now all of the authorized online retailers have it listed as arriving April 2013!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WTF is going on!?!?!?!?!?!?!

HEY CPS...
Sorry to hear about the problem you are experiencing with the SDX. It seems this is a common problem on all the x series models with the Floyd Rose special bridge. I had an SLX and an SLXQ, both had the EXACT SAME PROBLEM, and I got rid of both of them within a few months. My RRXT does not have this problem at all. Must be the dimensions of the necks. These necks feel a bit more narrow than any of the other Jacksons I've owned in the past, and the string spacing on the Floyd Rose really needs a wider neck. I'm disappointed to hear this model has the same issues, as I was really looking forward to getting my hands on one. I guess it's a good thing that they keep pushing the ship dates back to the authorized dealers here in the USA, otherwise, I'd probably have a thrid Jackson that I'd have to take a loss on by now. I stopped buying Jackson guitars several years ago because the higher end models were way overpriced, and the affordable ones were 100% garbage. I was really excited when this new X series line was introduced. But, after owning 3, and only getting one that was worth keeping, which was my RRXT, and that was only after spending another $150.00 replacing the pickups with real Seymour Duncans, I think I'll just stick to my Les Pauls and swear off buying a Jackson for another 10 years, until they get it right... maybe. If other people are buying these guitars, and finding themselves satisfied with them, well, I'm happy for them. But, I've bought three in the past year, to the tune of about $ 1,650.00, and, as far as I'm concerned, it was alot of good money wasted. I should have used it to buy a thrid Gibson, and had another guitar with zero issues. Anything with the Jackson name on it, other than the $2,000.00 USA models, is pretty much junk.
