Hello everybody!

Last week I bought a new Jackson Warrior WRXMG to replace my Jackson PS3T...
I really like my new Warrior with the Floyd Rose Special, neck through body etc etc.
It comes with EMG´s 81 and 85 humbuckers, but they´re not giving me the tone I want. I sent it for a calibration and also replaced the strings with the GHS Boomers.
The thing is that I want a higher pitched tone, with nice clean sound but also powerful... I want this guitar to scream! So I would like to know which active pickups will be a good choice for this guitar and the sound I want. I´ll be using it basically for playing metal and hard rock. I´m using an Orange Tiny Terror head with a 1x12 Orange with a Celestion Vintage 30.
I´m a drummer and I´m somehow ignorant about guitars but I love them =D

So please help me! Thanks!

In my oppinion you should let the guitar stay as it is. The Emg's in question are very versatil, and also the pickups are not the only factor to define a guitar's sound, so you have no warranty that by changing the pickups you would have the sound you want.

If you would like to try a less costly alternative, try getting an equalizer and set the tone you want.. EMGs are good pickups, and changing them would be a much bigger investment..

Thanks guys... Ill keep the EMGs but I also feel that it´s hard to play harmonics. Do you think I should change the strings or something?

EMGs pick up harmonics very very well (ala Zakk Wylde), if you still have the factory strings on there, by all means change them..

Yeah, I replaced them with some GHS Boomers but i´m not sure if those are fine for this guitar...

I personally have never been happy with GHS, but I haven't tried them in about 20 years, so I have no great wealth of information about their current products.. Try another brand, and see if you get any improvement..

On my DKMG EMG's (81/85) replaced with Seymour Duncan Distortion and '59 on neck. Here you can check sounds on Hi-Gain (SD Distortion vs SD JB comparision. I use JB/Jazz on my second Jackson Guitar, PS4):

Strings on both guitar are Dunlop 10-46.

That sounds awesome! I still can´t make my guitar to have a good sustain, I think I´ll replace the EMGs with the Seymour Duncan Blackouts.

I replaced them with some Earnie Ball, but I´m still not happy with the tone and the sustain is really really short, it drops way to fast. Do you think replacing my current 85/81 with some 85X-81X will improve the sound? Or maybe installing some SD Blackouts?
Thanks again!
