I bought the maple fingerboard SDX from Fullers Guitar in Houston Texas via eBay on the 9th of this month for 499 brand new and I have the same problem. Any chance Jackson/Fender will make this right by sending out replacement necks for these guitars? I don't think the dealer will refund my money because they have a 14 day return policy. I sure hope I'm not stuck with a flawed guitar. If so, I'll never buy another Jackson again, be it USA or import. This is very disappointing.

May not actually be the neck, now that I think about it. Take a close look at the photo. This is a close up of one that one of the authorized internet dealers has available. Look at the neck, there is clearly almost twice as much distance from the low E to the top edge of the neck, than there is from the high E to the bottom edge of the neck. Also, look really closely at the bridge. Not aligned properly, not even close! Just piss poor workmanship...period.

Just got a call from my local guitar shop telling me that the SDX (Maple) is on back order and won't be shipped until Feb 2013...

Feb. 2013? hope they are right. All of the internet dealers are saying April 2013.
Let us all know if yours has the same problem as all the other X series models with the floyd rose special bridge on it.

I like the look of the New Jackson Adrian Smith signature SDX, but after reading about the neck issue I'm now interested in learning how Jackson will handle it. The only guitar that I have ever had the 1st string slipping off of the fretboard issue with was a G&L Comanche.

I can tell you the answer to how Jackson will handle it. They won't. They've got the money from everyone who bought one and they are not about to refund it or spend money to make it right. They will just tell you that you should have bought the more expensive model. As for me, I guess I'll just invest another 5 or 600 dollars in it to make it right. Too bad they don't tell you up front that it's a project guitar.

I may have found a solution to the string slipping off the edge of the fretboard but I won't know until a part I ordered comes in around the 1st. I will keep you posted. :D

FRG, thanks for the input. I was hoping Jackson would take care of the issue but if you know about the way Jackson handles customer service then I will wait to see if your solution works, and, continue to hope for Jackson as I am looking forward to getting one more Jackson solid body electric guitar.

I got one of these the other days. I love the way it plays. It has probably just replaced all my other guitars as my main player now. Only thing bad about it was the Trem bar. I think Guitar center gave me the wrong one as its very loose and doesn't work well. I have a new one on order so that should be fine.

The neck pickup is actually very good (to me anyways). The bridge pickup is fair. I don;t hate it but i dont love it. Actually looking at putting in a EVH frankenstein humbucker in to replace it or a Dimarzio AT-1.

they could easily charge a few hundred more for this guitar. It actually has be thinking about saving up for a USA model. Although im hesitant on spending 2k on any guitar.

Ok. If you have the string slipping off the edge of the fretboard as I did on this guitar here is the easiest solution and it works. Replace the locking nut with an Original Floyd Rose locking nut size R2. You will have to drill new holes but it worked on mine. :D
