Not a good idea for rosewood or ebony, it can be done on maple, but it is time consuming and labor intensive..

Well i've got a les paul, i was thinking about customizing it giving it a new paint job, like adam jones les paul so i thought to paint the fret board black!

The fretboard is rosewood, far too grainy a porous for paint. You can find dyes for rosewood to make it more resemble ebony, but the results I have seen are far less than impressive..
