I recently bought a second hand Jackson SLS3 Soloist but there are a few things I am concerned about. The pickups do not say seymour duncan. The fretboard is supposed to be ebony, but it looks more like rosewood. The fret inlays do not look like the proper shark eye inlays the guitar is supposed to have. The jackson logo is a lot smaller on the headstock than it's supposed to be. Finally there is no sign of a serial number anywhere on the guitar. Im not really sure of what to do. Can anyone offer any advice?

The SL3 does have an unbound rosewood fretboard, and the serial number should be stamped on the end of the fingerboard near the neck pickup.. If possible, post some pics of the areas you have concern with so we can take a look at them..

Yours is an earier model (1997 or so), and everything is correct for that generation of SLS 3... Relax and enjoy...

Thanks a lot! I just got a message from the guy that sold it to me, saying that he thinks the previous owner changed the pick ups. Do you think they would still be Seynour Duncan Zebras but just older models of them?

Well, not all Duncans have a logo on them.. The next time you change strings, take the pickup rings off and check the backs of them for logos and stickers that will identify what model they are.. Many p/u manufacturers produce zebras, so there is the possibility that they aren't Duncans at all..
