I use rubbing alcohol to clean my fingerboards and then immediately condition them with lemon oil. You may also use an oil soap for cleaning purposes. Some people also use a product called "Goo Gone" which is primarily made of orange oil.

thanks for answer ; however i read in forums that lemon oil is harmful for maple fingerboards, i'm a bit confused.
The maple fingerboard of my jackson adrian smith doens't seem to have received any kind of treatment (vernish) : it looks like it's unfinished or raw maple : is that correct?
thks

I haven't seen an AS in person, but there should be some finish on the fingerboard. I have had a DK2M since 2008, and have used lemon oil on mine without issue, but when I use it I don't use a lot of it anyway.

I've been using Formby's build-up remover and then Formby's Lemon oil on my guitars for years. It's the best stuff I've ever used imo. Never have I had an issue with using it on maple. I currently own a dk2m and have used it for the past two years on it with no problems. I've own a few other maple guitars and have nothing but great things to say about Lemon oil. I highly recommend the build-up remover as well. Hope this helps!

From what I've heard and understand linseed oil is the best to use...Lemon oil is supposed to be a little acidic.
