Hello guys, Ok well I recently bought a second hand Jackson DK2m from ebay and the guitar is in near perfect condition. However, I would like to replace the Jackson low profile lic. floyd with a Original or Schaller FR. Are the measurements the same? Anyone from Jackson or has done this themselves know about this? I've heard that some lic. Floyds are different size from the OFR and other lic. are a perfect fit. I am asking specifically about the Jackson lic. floyd on the DK2m(Dinky w/maple neck). Thanks

Ok, all they told me was if it's a recessed bridge, which it is, it may not just drop in. But you can buy upgrades for it that make it smoke! His words.
You take the good with the bad I guess with having a low profile recessed floyd lic. Yeah, you can get all kinds of expensive upgrades, but not the part that I believe is the most crucial, like the knife blades and post. And I'm pretty sure with these you can't put a d-tuna on them either, which is also made by this company. They have great stuff, but back to the drawing board to find out if another one with fit.

Oh ok, thanks, I already knew the knife blades on my unit were pretty dull and unreliable so that's good to know. But I'll probably take it to a shop for measurements if I did want to attempt putting a OFR.

I bought an original Floyd Rose and it fit right on my DK2M with no problems.

Really? Ok what are your thoughts about the OFR? Was it worth the swap?

The licensed Jackson copy was a pretty good trem and worked fine but the OFR is made of better metals and that was my main concern. I didn't want to be stripping screws (which I've heard is frequently a problem with any of the lic'd by Floyd's). Does it actually sustain better? Yes it seems to, but that's really a subjective judgement. I'm happy with the change and that's all that matters in the end.

Great to know! I really wanted the FU model with a D-tuna, but I'll take what I can get in an upgrade. I actually had one of the saddle screws strip out on the stock one. It's ashamed that the prices haven't come down on OFR's over the years. They must be making a fortune on those things after all these years. I wish they'd make a Kahler that would fit over the hole of a floyd and just cover it up. I always loved those bridges.

I am pretty unfamilliar with Kahlers, but I've seen them before. What are the differences between a floyd and Kahler?
