Does anybody know why they discontinued the dk2m? I thought that was the coolest Idea ever and finally got one of my own. From what I understand it was their best selling model for awhile. Are they making it a "McRib" guitar so they can build the hype up on it, sell a bunch and take them away from time to time or are they history?

I don't know, but I recently bought a gently used one this summer and it is a fantastic model. However, if you look at the history of guitar companies, they discontinue many great selling models for no apparent reason. It just makes you appreciate what you have a lot more. Both of my jacksons are discontinued though...

I read somewhere that production moved from Japan to India and quality suffered so of course sales suffered. I have no idea if this is fact or fiction. I own a DK2M and love it.

Well for God's sake. Bring it back! I wanted to buy a new one and had to settle for a used one. The neck was and is perfect. The body was beat to hell with scratches and dings everywhere. Pretty hefty ones at that. Plus it had green Dimarzio's that were taped in, not soldered, with matching tone/volume knobs on a white body. Eww! It played fantastic though. I got it for $299 though at Guitar Center because of it's condition. Did some extensive body work to it. Added black binding to the body as well. One homemade trem-stop and an EMG 81/60 later, and I'm completely in love with this baby!

I am curious about the home made trem stop you mentioned. can you describe it; how you made it and what it did for the guitar?

Thats false... The DK2M was always MIJ, and was discontinued well before this new made in India X series was revealed last month. All pro and mg series guitars were and still are made in Japan.
