I have a soloist I bought in 86. I believe it was made in san dimas in 85 but the ser# does not have a J at the start. It only has 1027 stamped in the fretboard. does any one know about this. Thanks

Can you post a pic? 4 digit serials are for bolt-ons (J serials and RRs are for neckthru) so there should be a J there on your Soloist.

I have tried to upload pics several times but they wont go through for some reason. Its all black, black hardware, rosewood fret board with dots, neckthru body, not a bolt on, dual humbuckers and a us made kahler bar.

Without a pic it's tough to say, but I guess they should have just mis-stamped the serial number. Or the board was plained and the J wasn't stampted deep enough to stay visible.
