i have a very odd guitar that no one can seem to identify. local shop said it was a soloist but the serial number (074235) doesnt seem make sense. the code was stamped on the last fret and its a one piece guitar with seymour duncan pickups and a floyd rose bridge. can anyone tell me what i have exactly? i called a couple music stores and they had no idea.

A 6 digit serial number starting with 0 is a 1990 Japanese made neck through Professional (Pro) model. The body shape basically is the same as a Soloist. Jackson only made import neck through Professional models from 1990-91.

I have a Jackson with serial numbers 9714188. heard i could be a soloist. it has EMG hz pickups with a gain boost knob, floyd rose bridge. shark fin inlays that are only half the fret length.

...regarding the 7 digit serial number starting with 97. All that I know is that it's a 1997 Japanese import. There's a catalog on the site. I've not seen the inlays on only 1/2 the fretboard.

I have a Jackson, the serial# starts with 97 and is a 7 digit, but it's an '04

so how much is my guitar worth?

sorry for the two different comments, but it kinda seems like mine is similar to that japenese one the other guy has. the ppl at the guitar shop said it was a 90's guitar thats all they could say. also that it was a soloist

and mine has seymour duncans it doesnt seem to be those ones at that website

Go to a bookstore and find a Guitar Blue Book and you might find estimated values listed for different conditions. Value isn't based on just the make and year. Owners sometimes upgrade pick-ups...
