Hello everybody I am new to Jackson guitars and this forum.

I bought a used DK2M which looked like new. The guitar looks great and I love the neck and feel of the guitar. But it is driving me crazy because it won't stay in tune. I tune it, set it down and when I go back a couple of hours later later, most of the strings are sharp. when it is in tune the guitar is perfectly intonated. The bridge is perfectly parallel with the body; the action is just to my liking but WHY ARE THE STRINGS GOING SHARP????????

I don't understand why the strings are going sharp, and the only theory I have left is that it is a problem with that JT 580 LP licensed Floyd Rose bridge. so my next question is: Has anyone replaced the JT 580 LP LFR with another BETTER floyd rose? Or put another way: Is there a better floyd rose that drops right into the DK2M?

I would appreciate any help or feedback on this issue. I really like this guitar and would like to get it to stay in tune.

pull your trem bar back till the nut cracks then let go of it then tune it to e standard so that every time it goes out of tune you just have to pull the trem bar back

Does the guitar go out of tune while you're playing it? Do the strings tend to slowly go flat?

If so I think your neck is moving. You say the strings go sharp after you left the guitar for a few hours. If the neck moves (and no you cant see or feel the difference) it will usually straighten out when not being played, causing the strings to go sharp, and bow in when being played, causing the strings to go flat.

If the bridge returns to pitch under normal use then the bridge is fine.

You need to open up your guitar and loosen up the tension on your tremolo springs. I went through the same problem with my DK2. I think my problem was caused by changing the thickness of strings that I was using. I've always used Ernie ball 9's and I switched to the DR dimebag signature strings. Which were thicker than the Ernie ball's. At first I liked the thicker coated strings but I turned out going back to normal un coated 9's (the thick bottom strings are great for fast rhythm playing so I get the Ernie ball hybrids now) Anyhow, after
Putting thicker strings on my guitar, they were putting more stress on my neck and when I tried to tune my guitar to standard E the bridge was almost perpendicular to the body. I temporarily solved the problem by tuning down to drop C. I eventually got tired of my bassist bitching about being in E so I opened up the guitar and adjusted the springs. All my guitars have floating bridges and I almost never use the tremolo bars. In fact, I was practicing my dimebag squeals today and my D string snaps on me. challenge accepted

If the bridge is parallel with the body, which he says it is, then the spring tension is fine.

Just a few other possibility: Don't overwind the strings on the tuner posts. Even though you have locking nuts, overwinding will cause a Floyd Rose to go out of tune. Also, stretch new strings...

I swapped out the licensed copy that came on my DK2M with an OFR unit and it dropped right in.

Old thread, but this must be a problem for a lot of people.
Mine had the cracking sound from the nut, took off the locks, tightened it up, noticed the locks were TOO BIG !!, filed the edges so they dropped in with ease, no more cracking nut sound.
Guitar was still hideously out of tune, next problem was the bridge posts, which were loose in the body, took them out, put builders adhesive (beats the nails etc) and replaced the posts, things got better. The threads on the posts are not exactly NASA grade, so they get a layer of plumbers PTFE tape to make them feel more precise. Guitar volume acoustically got louder.
Took the back off, noticed the spring claw was not parallel to the sustain block which BTW was the cheapest crap I have ever seen, so fitted a heavy brass block and made sure the claw was straight to the block. Things got better again.
However, it wont stay in tune like my 80'S Charvels with a JT6, which unfortunately they dont make any more as I think its the best floyd type bridge ever.
In the end I fitted a one way block, so it's dive only. Now it stays in tune.
Build quality vs 80's charvels, no comparison, the Charvel wins every time. The paint on the Jackson has even sunk into the body and now has a very non smooth finish.
I think we have Fender to thank for the quality problems. Thats right Fender, run a great name into the ground.
