Bassist David Ellefson has reigned as a titan of thrash bass, garnering worldwide acclaim as a co-founding member of “Big Four” thrash innovator Megadeth and for his fleet-fingered, hard-hitting style and versatility. Simply put, nobody shreds a bass like Ellefson, and Jackson is proud to have his name on several formidable bass models, including this affordably priced X Series Signature David Ellefson Kelly™ Bird IV Bass.
This four-string bass features a basswood body with Ellefson’s signature red pinstripe finish, bolt-on bound maple neck with 21 jumbo frets and block inlays, EMG® pickups, two volume controls and three-band active EQ, Jackson HiMass™ bridge and Jackson die-cast tuners.
EMG® 35HZB/EMG® 35HZN Pickups (Active Three-Band EQ)
The EMG 35HZ is a modern passive bass pickup featuring a dual-coil humbucking design for low noise and plenty of output. Its ceramic magnets produce very pronounced and focused mids, as well as a fast and quick bass response. The strength of the magnets allows the pickup to retain articulation and clarity, even when introduced to extreme gain, which makes for a great choice for fast-paced metal. An active three-band EQ provides separate active controls for bass, mids and treble.
